{"id":7522,"date":"2026-09-07T18:21:55","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T15:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.itep.gr\/event\/rits-participation-in-the-13th-international-iacudit-conference-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T11:17:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T08:17:21","slug":"rits-participation-in-the-13th-international-iacudit-conference-2026","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.itep.gr\/en\/event\/rits-participation-in-the-13th-international-iacudit-conference-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"RIT\u2019s Participation in the 13th International IACuDiT Conference 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The research team of RIT participated in the <strong>13th International IACuDiT Conference (International Association of Cultural and Digital Tourism)<\/strong>, held on the island of Lesvos from <strong>1\u20133 September 2026<\/strong>, under the theme <strong>\u201cTourism in the Age of Transformation: Insights from the Social Sciences\u201d<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/iacudit.org\/Conference2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>IACuDiT 2026 \u2013 Conference Website<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n<p> Professor <strong>George Petrakos<\/strong> chaired the main session of the second day of the conference, during which two academic papers were presented, focusing on <strong>Sustainability<\/strong> and <strong>Employment<\/strong> in Greek hotels. <\/p>\n<p> The first paper, presented by <strong>Ms Stavroula Athanasakopoulou<\/strong>, addressed the social dimension of Sustainability, focusing on the interaction between hotels and the local community and its importance both for the local economy and development and for the preservation and promotion of the wider area\u2019s environmental and cultural heritage. <\/p>\n<p> The second paper, presented by <strong>Ms Sofia Panousi<\/strong>, focused on labour shortages in Greek hotels over the past five years. It presented the Institute\u2019s findings on the occupations, skills and hotel departments facing significant challenges, in both absolute numbers and percentages.
