On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the General Director of ITEP, Professor Giorgos Petrakos, participated virtually in the joint session of the Hellenic Parliament’s Special Permanent Committee on Research and Technology and the Standing Committee on Production and Trade. The session, titled “Chambers of Commerce Promote Innovation,” provided a platform for Professor Petrakos to highlight the importance of reliable and up-to-date Registers of Professional Chambers as a key tool for fostering innovation and supporting economic development.

The General Director of RIT, Professor Giorgos Petrakos, in his presentation highlighted the importance of updated and reliable Registers of Professional Chambers as a tool for: a) Access to research and funding b) Facilitating cooperation and international networking c) Supporting strategy and policy-making d) Analyzing professional sectors and identifying innovation e) Contributing to economic development through digital transformation. Particular emphasis was placed on the enriched use of data through data fusion techniques, as well as on the case study involving the enhancement of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels’ Register with data from RITS’s annual accounting surveys.
